About Scott

I’m a pretty nice guy, when it’s all said and done.  I’m happily married.  I think baby animals are really cute.  I’m occasionally nice to children. I try not to argue on the Internet.

I grew up in the Charlotte, NC area, but spent a fair amount of time traveling, and even lived in the Netherlands between 2010 and 2017. While there, I visited a slew of Europe’s great cities – Berlin, Paris, London, Budapest, Barcelona, and Rome to name just a few. I was even lucky enough to vacation in Egypt and Tanzania. All this traveling and living abroad certainly changed my perspective on both the land of my birth, and the world as a whole.

I’ve worked as a copywriter and content specialist for most of my career, and faced the dastardly task of learning to write UK English while abroad. It was a horrible, yet rewarding experience. You may notice some of that influence on this blog. There was a period of several years where I completely stopped writing ‘Murican.

As far as personal interests, I’m a terrible guitarist, but that’s okay. I never play in front of people. My musical tastes are eclectic, and find myself constantly hopping genres and diving down rabbit holes on Spotify. Jazz, blues, punk, post-punk, goth, rockabilly industrial, glam rock, and host of sub-genres are just a few of the things you’ll find me bopping around to. Most recently, I’ve discovered a treasure trove of new artists in the synthwave genre – mostly young musicians inspired by the 80s New Wave and movie soundtracks from the same era.

I have geeky tendencies, with a love for, science fiction, some comics, and gaming (board games, role-playing, video games). Conventions have long been a great joy of mine, as long as they are not too big.

I had some fish once, but they died.
